UPHDMC, Government of Uttar Pradesh - Turning 75 districts into 75 brands

What they lacked was not craft

Every district in Uttar Pradesh has a product that has survived centuries. Brass from Moradabad. Chikankari from Lucknow. Black pottery from Azamgarh. Zari-Zardozi from Bareilly. These are not merely products - they are living proof of what human hands, guided by generations of inherited knowledge, are capable of creating.

What they lacked was not craft. It was a system that could take them from a local artisan's workshop to the procurement budgets of governments across the state.

One programme. One partnership. 75 districts.

One District One Product carries the ambition of transforming 75 districts into 75 economic identities, each built around the craft, the heritage and the livelihood that defines it. MOLOG was appointed as the exclusive execution partner to the Uttar Pradesh Handicraft & Design Council under a Public-Private Partnership to make that ambition operational.

The vision was clear: every government department in Uttar Pradesh should be able to source its institutional requirements through ODOP, putting institutional purchasing power directly in service of local artisans and district economies.

“One District One Product is not a government scheme. It is a declaration - that India's 75 districts are 75 distinct civilisations, each with an economic identity worth protecting.”
MOLOG

Architecture, not a workaround

MOLOG designed the complete institutional architecture - not a workaround, not a pilot programme, but a permanent, scalable framework that integrates with existing government procurement norms and makes ODOP adoption seamless for any department at any level of the state administration.

We also built the engagement strategy for the programme's most critical audience: the senior leadership of state government. The programme was positioned not as a procurement alternative, but as an institutional investment in the economic identity of the state.

Not a vendor. Not a consultant.

We do not operate as a vendor. We do not operate as a consultant. We operate as the exclusive execution arm of a state government corporation - embedded within the programme's very architecture, inseparable from its ambition.

Deliverables

  • Institutional architecture and procurement framework design
  • Public-Private Partnership structuring
  • Stakeholder mapping and senior-leadership engagement strategy
  • Brand positioning across 75 district products
